Barnsley Norse raise funds for Barnsley Hospice

April 2018

Barnsley Norse raised £850 for their local hospice, and achieved 3rd place in the Hospice’s annual Accumulator Challenge.

Each February, the Barnsley Hospice’s Accumulator challenge sets local businesses the task of turning £28 into as much money as possible for the hospice during the 28 days of February.

Barnsley Norse’s impressive response was led by Area Cleaning Manager Steph Millington, who was managing this event for the 2nd year running.

Steph raised money for the Accumulator Challenge by selling cookies in Barnsley Norse’s coffee shops and completing the Step Challenge. The Step Challenge saw her achieving 10,000 steps a day during February, even struggling through snow during atrocious weather brought in by the ‘Beast from the East’. Steph was able to donate £100 to the Hospice as a result of her efforts.

“Steph has been an ardent supporter of Barnsley Hospice since sadly losing both her Mother and her Cousin in 2015,” Barnsley Norse’s Operations Director Jo Taylor explained.  “We have been delighted to support her in raising money for this local organisation that makes a massive difference to people going through the most difficult of times.”
